Basic Engine Maintenance
| Engine Oil
|
- Check oil level regularly: fill to mark on dipstick. DO
NOT OVERFILL.
- Use SAE 30W oil above 40?F (4?C).
- Change oil after first 5 hours of use, then after every
50 hours or at the beginning of the season.

| Air
Cleaner |
- Replace air cleaners at least once a season with
original parts, more often under dusty conditions.
- Always use OEM air filters to assure optimum performance
and maximum protection for your engine.
|
| Gasoline |
- Use clean, fresh, lead-free gas.
- Do not mix oil with gas.
- Use Briggs & Stratton Fuel Stabilizer Plus to assure
fuel freshness.
- Use fuel within 30
days.
|
| Storage |
- Use Briggs & Stratton Fuel Stabilizer Plus to
prevent stale gas.
- Drain engine oil & refill.
- Pour 1/2oz (14ml), oil into spark plug hole.
- Replace spark plug and crank engine slowly.
- Clean dirt & grass from engine and store in clean,
dry area.

| Starting
Engine |
- Attach controls as described in your owner's
manual.
- If engine is equipped with a PRIMER, make sure engine is
properly primed (see owner's manual) OR If engine is equipped with a CHOKE, make
sure choke plate is fully closed.
- Carburetor choke plate must be fully open in RUN or FAST position
